Remnants Of Olde

Today is an awesome day!!!  In fact this entire week I have felt so great to be  able to share so much with so many.

When I create art it is like praying.  So I look at this One World One Heart drawing it doesn’t feel as though I’m giving away  *things* but pieces of my heart and my soul which pours into what I make.   Really it does the heart good to do give to others.  It is an amazing feeling to give.

Today is quite special because as I write this post I am expressing gratitude for the ability to share with others my art my love and my good intentions for the recipients of today’s One World One Heart giveaway.   And as I write this post I will also be firing up Mr. Random Number Generator to pick 7 lucky winners from the 533 entries we received.  But I don’t want to do this anonymously.  Even though I sit here alone in this room whoever happens by later and reads this will share in what I am doing now.

So many wonderful things have happened this week.  The other day I gave away a Heart Tart to the first Facebook friend who saw my status “First comment on my latest post receives a Heart Tart”  as you can see  on that post that there was indeed a winner.   Then that very same day I won a drawing for these fab art books at Daily Art Muse.  Instant Karma Baby!

I also am quite grateful for Keron Lee’s Love It Forward group.    I was the second person to join (right after Keron herself) and just days later there are so many ready to spread hearts and other handmade gifts throughout the world as random acts of kindness.  I just checked and there are 37 members already!

The Love It Forward group was inspired by recent posts on Stephanie Lee’s blog about a very heartwarming experience in her life.  Like One World One Heart event, this is destined to be yet another love fest.  But instead of only once a year this will go on and on.   If  you don’t have that feeling of the joy of giving Love it Forward is a place to find it!

Perhaps you’ve heard rumors that Keron and I are forming yet another Ning group “People With Names Like Karen But Are Something Else”.   It’s just simply not true!  hehehe

Another amazing experience this week has been getting a place of honor on a very cool web site called Altered Bits.  Alicia Caudle has put together a site that is a found object artist’s dream:  lots o’ inspirational art that she has made (check out the Cancer assemblage below– one of a series on all the astrological signs–  OMG I love this!), very unusual found objects that *trust me* many you will find no where else and an entire page of FREE STUFF!!  Free stuff is so very happy.

Alicia is launching an awesome sounding Zine and the first Call For Entries is for Anatomically Altered art.  How cool is that!  It was so inspiring I got back to working on a sexy risque mermaid that I had set aside and hope to be in the first issue.  When you see her art work you’ll know  why I’m saying that her zine is going to be seriously cool.

Charley and I are so incredibly honored that she devoted an entire page to our work.  I can’t even begin to say what this means to me.   What’s amazing is she’s such a good web designer that somehow our pieces look much better on her site than on our own!   We’re going to be up on The LOVE Page for about a month and then she will put up other artists each month.   That’s a pretty cool idea and I wonder who will be next!

Of all the things that have come my way this week, I am definitely very grateful for Alicia.  Alicia was so sweet to devote an entire page of her web site to Remnants.  And I’m very appreciative of that but that is not why I’m so grateful!!!  It is because I have gotten to know her through (so many!!!) emails and phone conversations.  I have gained something far far better than being featured on a web site–  I have a treasured friend.

OK!  One final thing I want to note before I do the drawing.  I want to give all of you something so if you would like one of these hearts  “Heart Tart” or “2 Hearts As One” either email me or convo me at my etsy site, I will give you these for $10 plus $4 shipping for a total of $14 (In honor of Valentine’s Day February 14).
