Disintegration Unveil

Well I overshot the May 1 target of Seth Apter’s Disintegration Project by a bit so I’m bummed I didn’t get to post with everyone else.  I could never have foreseen how incredibly busy we’d be getting ready to teach at Art & Soul in Hampton.  We shipped over 100 pounds a week before and still had to keep weighing our suitcases to make sure we didn’t go over the weight limit on those.  It’s such a rip if you go just a pound over the airlines charge SO MUCH it’s just crazy.  But things happen for a reason so read on!

First off I’d like to show you one Before shot and if you’d like to see more you can go here to the original post.

Bound For Decay detail

I thought I made this just a bit too “decayed” looking to start with and wondered if there would be much of a difference.  And frankly when I walked by it about a week before we left for the east coast, it didn’t look much different except where the paper clay face was.  That pretty much was worn down by the rain fairy quickly.

I moved it from the tree where it seemed a little too sheltered and Charley strapped it to the screen over our burn barrel.

Nothing could have prepared me for the difference that extra time made in this piece.  I’m ecstatic!!!  It looks so creepy like she burned up and all that’s left is ash.  The wire is super rusty too and I’m just lovin it!!

Ironic that the goddess looks like a victim of spontaneous combustion and she is bound to a burn barrel.  Hmmmm.

Disentigration After 2

Here is the post where you can find out about all the Afters as there were so many artists that participated!  This was hella cool and amazingly there is more to come!!!

      Hi Sue!

Yeah I need to get over there too. Been busy with the new site and so there hasn’t been much time to frolic around online.

Hope *you* had fun looking though. : )

WOW! Love the disintegration of your dolly! The unexpected results are so wonderful to see as I wander (slowly) through all the blogs. Can’t wait to see the results in August!

This is the best disintegration I have seen yet. Have been following the collaboration with interest and can’t wait to see the final outcomes! Think dolly already got hers though LOL!

      Hi Kim

Somehow your comment ended up in the spam so I missed seeing this. I’m so glad you liked it and I have some ideas for the next phase that I think will be interesting so hope you check back to see!

Also I’m really enjoying your blog so double happiness!!! : )
