D) Do you already have the book and would like a really great deal on my most popular online workshop?!?!? Well here it is! The Resin Clay Pendants Workshop is only $20 (and only $15 for blog hoppers)!!
Signed copies of my book are available here
BOOK TOUR INTRO
The typical book tour back in the day (and even today) is held in bookstores with personal author signing events. More and more they are being held online. Which especially makes sense with the huge trend for digital books rapidly gaining on printed versions. If you don’t know what I’m talking about just google “Amanda Hocking” or go here and be prepared for a shock.
So about this event. . . Even though it’s technically called a book tour it isn’t even really about the book. I know, I know. As the author I should be focusing on hawking books (or hocking as the case may be!). But I didn’t write the book for that purpose. Because there is something much larger going on here. It’s about The Clay.
After using epoxy clay for at least a decade I kept looking around and wondering when the heck someone would let the “secret” out. Finally I couldn’t take it any longer and that’s how Inspired Remnants, Curious Dreams came to be. It’s about The Clay (sorry for repeating myself myself)
When Charley and I teach workshops together we get to see the magic first hand.
The little spark of realization of what our students are holding in their hands– 100% pure potential. Unlimited possibilities. We say it often at the beginning of class but no one really “gets” it at first. THEN it happens. The light of realization shining brightly in artist’s eyes. “OMG you can make anything with this stuff”. That’s what I’m talking about and that’s what this event is really about!!! It is helping to get the word out that a magical art material exists and has been largely overlooked. It is celebrating those artists who have discovered it– the pioneers– and what they are doing with it. It is confirming that although hard to believe at first that anything that can be dreamed of can now be made. And thanks to the use of molds not even sculptural skills are required.
This is so far reaching it affects nearly every kind of artist. Frames for paintings, findings and beads and bezels for jewelry, amazing components for assemblage, strong armatures under weaker materials like polymer clay are just a start! The clay is a strong adhesive so joining unusual materials for found object art becomes much simpler and in some cases making an impossible join possible. Once cured it is oh so strong that it can be drilled, sanded and tapped. We use it in so many ways to make our mechanical art pieces (automata) such as in the Mechanical Bird workshop. Taxidermy artists use it. Model and toy makers use it. OK this is crazy but true– there are people who are building *theme parks* with it.
I think back to when polymer clay was first coming out. And metal clay. This is huge like that. Or at least it seems to be unfolding that way so far.
So now do you see how simply silly it would be to try to have a “typical” book tour when an artistic revolution is taking place?
Thank you for joining in on this exciting and revolutionary event. I hope you will visit all the blogs in this tour. There are many wondrous things being done, giveaways will be won, and clay will be hardening in the sun. We will be celebrating from now through May 19. The last location is meeting up on the Facebook page I created for all epoxy clay artists– newer and more experienced– to show their work and share about the clay. I mean The Clay. : )
And in case you were wondering all the pieces above have at least some epoxy clay. And none of them could be made quite the same way without The Clay!

————————————————————————
SOME FEATURED ARTWORK
OK so this is one of those funny “back stories” that you’d likely never hear. My good buddy Jean Van Brederode submitted this fabulous and funny piece entitled “Exotic Dancer Heart Necklace”.
Now I thought it was hilarious and really wanted it in the book but it was nixed because of the risque nature of it or something to that effect (yeah nipples are so insulting to polite society). So look what did make it in the book– this fabulous piece by Michael deMeng. I love them both and if it were up to me they *both* would be in the book and all 10 nipples (2 from Jean and 8 from Michael) would be in the book. Now what do you think of THAT!!!

————————————————————————
MUCH MORE
There is so much to share and so I will be joining you again on this tour. And maybe even more than the schedule says with cool deals on clay and such! And there are so many amazing artists both on the tour and that will be joining us all at the end for the big Facebook party! But for now I will tell you how to get the prizes and then call it a day.
————————————————————————
GIVEAWAYS!!! *
Just leave a comment for one entry to win one of these fabulous prizes (every blog on the tour has about this many so hooray!). Get more chances to win by sharing info about the book tour!!! When you leave your comment just say where you posted (facebook, twitter, your blog, etc.) Each post is worth one entry in my drawing!

2) Fluid Chalks Online Workshop by Lesley Venable on her The Art Of Altering site which features many other awesome online workshops http://theartofaltering.ning.com/group/fluidchalksbackgroundsbeyond
3) Two Digital Collage Sheets by Alicia Caudle of Altered Bits. You can see her very unique and cool collection here.
4) Sample pack of Silputty 40 silicone putty mold mix from Silpak.
5) 1 OZ ICE Resin and a mixed metal bezel from ICE Resin
6) A copy of Inspired Remnants, Curious Dreams
7) I’m especially happy to offer a custom made locket that would be equally at home being worn or hanging around your studio perhaps “supervising” as you work on some exciting new epoxy clay projects : ) This sample one was made for the Christmas holiday but of course it will have whatever inspirational word or saying you’d like plus your preferences of color(s), found objects, embellishments, etc. You can see more about these on my etsy listing here.

8) GRAND PRIZES FOR BOOK REVIEWS*
Any reader that writes a review ~ however short or long~ of Inspired Remnants, Curious Dreams on amazon.com before July 31, 2011 and sends an email with the title “Inspired Remnants Review” to remnants.art@gmail.com will be entered in a drawing to win one of these prizes. Please note that your honest opinion is wanted on this review.
1) The art piece “Sacred Totem” which is featured on the cover of the book
2) Power Pack plus extra Fixit Sculpt clay from Aves Studio
3) Frozen Charlotte Doll with digital tutorial “How To Crackle Charlottes” from Alicia Caudle

This is going to be a Grand Tour, Kerin! The Clay – it really is surprising why it isn’t being used by everybody – so much potential.
Kudos to you for writing this book – and for creating such exceptional pieces for it – and not to forget the wonderful artwork in the gallery…
Makes me want to run out and get the book – wait, I already have it…

I received epoxy clay for Christmas (my husband spotted it on my amazon wish list), but have been afraid to open it. Now I have so much inspiration, I can’t wait to get started!

This looks like my kind of book! I will be adding it to my cart soon! I am very intrigued by the clay that you are using. And I am excited to see what people are doing with it. That exotic dancer necklace is hilarious! But the others are mysterious and ethereal and so unique. Thank you for sharing this wonderful hop and tour. Best of everything to you!
Enjoy the day!

I am amazed at this clay but not at the natural embellishments. I have been drying and collecting natural objects for years and it is amazing how they work in sculpturally with all kinds of clay. This blog hop has been educational & inspirational.
