This was the first piece made with a new (to us) basket weave technique. It was woven with waxed linen thread using a beading needle and a magnifying glass to see what I was doing!!!
If you love texture this is definitely for you! The clay locket is embedded with beach sand and the woven linen and knotted threads it hangs by are difficult not to touch.

Two optical lenses provide a front and back view of the starfish.

Thanks Kelley! When we get back from teaching at Art & Soul I’ll be adding new work featuring a lot of components from metal clay. So I hope you will enjoy those also.
