dreamtime circus

“The Dreamtime Circus is a troupe of fire fairies, clowns, musicians, and all types of other magical and fantastical creatures who travel far and wide to share the uplifting experience of the circus with the peoples of the world. We seek to use fire and circus arts as mediums for fostering cross-cultural communication and open exchanges of cultural ideas and artistic expressions. As offerings of good will and solidarity, we perform free circus performances for the communities we visit, focusing our efforts on serving those surviving natural disasters, dislocations, or military conflicts.”

Seth’s Open House!

In the off chance you haven’t been by Seth Apter’s blog the past few Sundays all I can is WAKE UP!!!  You are missing some great things!

And now that you are awake I beg of you for your own good do NOT miss this Sunday’s post.  This one is likely to be even better than the ones before.  Everyone that comes by his blog on Sunday will be posting an artsy “secret”.   His blog is very well read by some amazing artists so can you imagine what cool things you’ll learn?!?!?

seth apter, open house, secret sundays, artist secrets

I am thinking of something cool to post that will be a good secret (versus all those really bad secrets I’m hoping you don’t find out about).  See ya there!

unlikely materials

The other day I had shared selected works from a truly gifted fiber artist that creates sculptures entirely of thread which you can see here.

Here is another (I think) equally impressive feat which is making clay look like rusty old cars and the like.

clay, rusty, imitative, daily art muse, john brickels

Yes, indeed, John Brickels is amazing!!!  I found out about him on one of my favorite destinations, Daily Art Muse.  Susan finds the most wonderful artists of every kind and shares them . . . wait for it. . . daily.

Ohh look what I found!

I tried to leave a comment on the Creep Softly blog but it wasn’t working right.  Maybe she’ll see the incoming link and come back here.

Can you imagine a friend making this and then giving it to you?!?!?   The creator’s name is Eric Linn so if anyone knows of a web site he has I’d love to see it!

Trippin with Trimpin & Kotzwinkle

Listen to these secretly encoded musical messages from Trimpin and you’ll be in the Master Class, Baby!

Now that you’ve done the Trimpin thing you’re ready to know about the life work of Horse Badorties.

And He Spoketh:

“I’m in my little Horse Badorties pad, man, looking around. It’s the nicest pad lever had, man, and I’m getting another one just like it down the hall. Two pads, man. The rent will be high but it’s not so bad if you don’t pay it. And with two pads, man, I will have room to rehearse the Love Chorus, man, and we will sing our holy music and record it on my battery-powered portable falling-apart Japanese tape recorder with the corroded worn-out batteries, man. How wonderful, man.”

You know you want more!!!  And HERE is where you can get it.

I *LOVE* these guys.  Like me, it seems as though they never grew up.  And that’s a good thing!

drawing with thread

Really, truly I thought this house was ceramic at first glance.

Perhaps because the first piece I made in ceramic clay was this house

But amazingly it is thread!!!

So is this car!

Which I’d love to see drive across this bridge . . .

love these thread shadows

The Bath Pillow Controversy

OK I know a lot of the reviews on Amazon are misleading since the writer is in some way affiliated with the product being sold.  But I still head right over there to read reviews on anything I intend to buy because usually there is some value in there.  So far I’ve managed to buy well made products and not be duped by hyped up claims.

This morning as I was searching for a new bath pillow I saw this one

Microdry Luxury Bath Pillow with Memory Foam, White

We have the Temperpedic memory foam bed with the remote that moves the head and foot of the bed up and down and LOVE IT!!!  That is a great bed so comfy.  So of course I went right to the reviews to see what people thought of this bath pillow.  It looks great doesn’t it!

OMG!!!  Here it is my favorite review ever

1.0 out of 5 stars I feel like such a little sucker., January 13, 2009

“Want to know what the secret to the “memory foam” this project boasts? Some of the “wicking” technology so prevalent in sports gear, perhaps? Or the stuff that makes the liquid disappear in diapers? Or the magic of those special “wings” in maxipads, for crap sake? Nope. It’s a big ole sponge. It’s a big ole sponge in a terry cloth cover. Terry cloth – which is commonly understood to be the sponge of the fabric world – wrapped around a big ole sponge. This thing soaks up about 5 pounds of bath water immediately and then drags those two desperate little suction cups that were supposed to hold it perched in place down to their watery grave. The poor little suckers didn’t have a chance. And even if one of them does manage to hang on, the big ole sponge-wrapped-in-pseudosponge just slips off of it like a family-sized loaf of so much wet bread.

That was Sunday. Now it’s Tuesday night and the loaf of bread slumped in my empty bathtub is just as wet, but really, really cold. Cold and wet and slumpy in the bottom of the tub. A real “Calgon, take me away” kind of allure… Want to know the secret to the “dry” in the “Microdry” this project boasts? Yeah. Me, too.”

This person had a completely different experience.

5.0 out of 5 stars I really like this pillow, January 7, 2010

I’ve tried several different bath pillows and they just don’t seem to fit me or my bathtub. This one definitely did the trick. Inflatable pillows don’t ‘give’ at all. This one squishes down so you can get really comfortable. The inside is foam, but is mostly covered in waterproof material (about 3/4 of the pillow that points down toward the water). The upper 1/4 of the foam is not covered – I’m sure so that the foam can dry out if it should get wet. All of this is covered by a terry cloth cover that I simply take off, so that everything can dry out well. They’re always both completely dry by the next day. I guess if you took the pillow, held it under water and completely soaked it, it wouldn’t dry out overnight, but it really should never get that wet.

———————————-

After reading these reviews and then looking again at the photo, it is so funny to me that there is hardly any water in the tub.  So little, in fact, that it isn’t even touching the bottom of the bath pillow.  Could it be that it is just a matter of which way the pillow was placed in the tub?

Ah, such is life!  It’s all in the way we look at things.  : )

the only time i like pink is when it’s in the sky
skyblue pink sunset

how amazing today has been.  first a morning rainbow and now a dazzling sunset.

must be the new color bushes i planted.  they are suppossed to attract colors kind of like butterfly bushes attract butterflies.  foolishly i doubted the claims thinking it wasn’t possible.

wow the flash went off since it was getting dark and now i know how truly dirty my window is.  if i’m going to see things out of my kitchen like this i should definitely clean that window.
